Dr. Tom Brown’s Keith Clinic of Chiropractic West Team
A native of Toronto, Canada, Dr. Thomas M. Brown has treated patients in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area for over thirty years. After receiving his undergraduate education at Centennial College and York University, with a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology, Dr. Brown enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1976 and went on to take post-graduate studies at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where he studied physical and clinical diagnosis, spinal biomechanics and physical therapy.
In 1976, Dr. Brown relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina to accept a staff position with the Keith Clinic of Chiropractic, P.A. He specializes in the treatment of traumatic injuries to the neck and back. He has been associated with the research techniques of Dr. John Faye, director of the internationally renowned Motion Palpation Institute. After completing a five-year post-graduate program in Orthopedics, Dr. Brown qualified as a board-qualified chiropractic orthopedist. He was appointed to the Board of Chiropractic Examiners by the Governor of North Carolina, a position he held for six years.

An avid runner and bicyclist, Dr. Brown has completed ten marathons, including the New York, Boston and Marine Corps marathon. His eldest daughter, KJ, graduated from North Carolina State University, while his youngest daughter, Erin, attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Born in Rockingham, North Carolina, Dr. Lemuel Byrd Jr. completed his pre-med at Sandhills Community College in Southern Pikes, North Caroline and Pembroke State University (part of the University of North Carolina system).
Upon completion of his pre-med studies, Dr. Byrd moved to Lombard Illinois, where he enrolled at the National College of Chiropractic, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and graduating with his Doctorate of Chiropractic in April, 1980.
In June, 1980, Dr. Byrd and his late wife, Karla, returned to North Carolina when he joined the staff of Keith Clinic of Chiropractic in August of the same year, where he worked with Dr. Fletcher Keith and Dr. Thomas Brown. With the exception of fifteen months between November of 1985 and March of 1987, when he briefly returned to practice in Illinois, Dr. Byrd has remained at Keith Clinic.
Dr. Byrd continued his education with post-graduate studies from multiple chiropractic colleges, including National, Logan, Palmer, Palmer-West, Life, and New York State, as well as by taking multi-disciplinary courses through the University of North Carolina. He was a member of a research study into lower back pain at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and earned a certification in spinal trauma and soft tissue injuries as part of his graduate studies. He was listed in Who’s Who in 2005 and 2006.
Outside the office, Dr. Byrd enjoys walking, hiking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He has made an ongoing study of both North and South Carolina history. Like Dr. Brown, he has two daughters; the oldest is married with two children of her own and studies criminal justice. His youngest daughter is a Certified Veterinarian assistant and writer.
